Why we love it
Chez Tess was our oasis in Ouagadougou when we first arrived in Burkina Faso. Although this was my second trip here, it took me a few days to settle in. Probably not helped by the 35 degree heat after cold, grey London. However in our room or on the terrace I felt relaxed and very well looked after by Jean, Eric and the rest of the team.
Chez Tess is a guesthouse and art gallery in the centre of Ouagadougou, which has an enormous amount of really amazing objects from all over Africa. It is pretty cool to sit on a hand carved chair whilst sipping your coffee.
The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, especially in the evening when the dim yellow lights are put on throughout the property. I spent a lot of time admiring the masks and sculptures, or reclining on the terrace with my book.
